Symptoms can include:

  • Repetitions: repeating sounds, syllables, words or phrases that interferes with natural rhythm and flow of speech.
  • Prolongations: holding onto a sound for an extended period of time (e.g., “lllike this”)
  • Blocks: Difficulty getting any sound out then sometimes a “burst” of air or tension is released and the sound is started.

Commonly starts during childhood and persists into adulthood.
